Getting Around the Culver Campus & Community

The Culver Academy facilities contain over 1.5 million square feet of living, working, educational, and recreational space, spread out over our almost 1,800 acres of rural, yet very accessible grounds. In addition to typical classroom buildings, our campus includes varying types of facilities including an ice rink and multi-purpose arena, a riding stable, dining hall, dorms & barracks living quarters, athletic complex, rowing center, library, auditorium, visual arts center, and several other support facilities, in addition to our Woodcraft Camp grounds adjacent to campus.

While many of the buildings on the Culver campus are steeped in tradition and function, they were built long before the code requirements for barrier-free access.  However, visitors will find access to just about any facility on the Culver campus, if not to every floor.

The Culver Academies Map and Legend will help all visitors to our campus locate their destination, as well as available parking.  There is ample handicap parking located strategically around campus, as well as along Academy Road. The Culver campus spreads out around the primary academic and dorm facilities, so  while parking may not always be convenient, it is available, but visitors should be prepared to cover some ground on foot.  Culver would like to remind parents and visitors that for our students’ safety, there is never parking allowed in front of the Logansport Gate area, as well as along the yellow-curbed section of Academy Road adjacent to the Lay Dining Center.

On the west side of campus, there is plenty of parking available in the motel parking lots, as well as behind the Steinbrenner Performing Arts Center at Eppley Auditorium.  On the north side of campus, there is parking in the Music & Arts lot, as well as in the lots adjacent to the Henderson Ice Arena.  There is reserved visitor parking at Sally Port, thru the main entrance to campus, and on major-event weekends, our Security Dept will direct parking to the temporary lots behind Memorial Chapel.

There is plenty of ground to cover to take in all the beautiful Culver campus, and students, faculty, and staff are often seen biking and sharing our many walking paths with pedestrian traffic. Parents, alum, and visitors are welcome to bring their bicycles to campus for their enjoyment and recreational use, but Culver strongly encourages the use of proper safety gear, and requests that all riders please be cautious and courteous of foot traffic when riding on campus.

Golf Carts

Many parents and other visitors to campus often inquire as to the availability and use of golf carts on campus, especially for major events such as Reunion Weekend as well as Graduation & Commencement weekend.  Culver does not maintain carts for public use; however we do have some wonderful and reliable vendors who will fulfill your cart needs (below).  Culver reminds our guests who will be using golf carts that there is a very strict 5 MPH speed limit policy everywhere on the Culver campus.  Students are not to use carts unless cleared for medical purposes, and renters should note that carts are not allowed on Culver roadways unless a permit is acquired thru the Town Hall.

The Culver Academies Security Department is staffed around the clock, every day of the year.  All personnel are certified in CPR, AED, and many are active EMT’s within the community.  The Security office is conveniently located on Academy Road in the Facilities Department complex, directly behind the Uniform Department.  You can quickly reach our Security staff for your emergency needs or general concerns by calling (574) 842-4088, or from any on-campus phone by dialing 4088.  Visitors to campus will note the addition of a Campus Safety Blue-Light Tower located on the west side of campus near the far dorms, with more to be erected soon.  In any emergency situation, simply pick up the handset and push the button for Security response.

The Culver community actively supports and embraces our students, parents, visitors, and staff, and offer many services and amenities.  Visitors should note that there is a 20 MPH speed limit in effect throughout most of the Culver area, and should heed the speed limit unless they want to meet any of our fine Culver PD officers under less comfortable pretenses!  For more Culver Community information, please visit www.TownofCulver.org.
